“Team” is the word that best describes American Office.
We are a team in everything we do. From our approach to clients to the way we interact in the office, we all work towards a common goal and help each other out along the way. American Office’s team is comprised of energetic talented professionals who enjoy what they do. Guided by a strong work ethic and a desire to exceed expectations, we are dedicated to embracing the goals of our clients as those of our own.
Assistant Design Manager
“I love my job! I get to meet different people all of the time and work on different types of projects, so my day is never
the same.Whether it is space-planning furniture layouts for a new space based on the client’s specific needs, creating
furniture specifications, or teaming with another Project Designer or Interior Design Firm to create a furniture solution,
every new project is a challenge and requires a unique solution. We have a great team of people that we work with
every day, and I’m so glad to be a part of it.”
“As an American Office Project Designer, proficiency in CAD & ZAXIS tools effectively to draft design drawings,
including 3D models, is crucial to my daily execution. A typical day in the design world entails modifying and
updating designs, managing and executing design assignments in a timely manner, as well as updating existing
design techniques with respect to latest design trends & submitting finalized design layouts to management and clients.
The opportunity to be involved in something that began as a simple idea or sketch & seeing it progress into a full
functional, real living space for our client, is one of my favorite components to my job. I find nothing more rewarding
than seeing a space to completion and receiving feedback from our client about how much they adore their newly
functional space! It truly is a hands on, rewarding process.”
“I’m in it for one thing – the people. Whether it is the people that I meet who will become new clients or the loyal clients
that I have had for over 20 years, that’s what makes my days fly by at American Office. It’s also about the great people
that work with me at AO. Everyone understands that at the end of the day, we must all work together for good solutions.
There is no specific recipe for making that all work but when everyone works together, all the people are pleased.”
Channing S. Ward
Senior Project Designer
“As a designer here at American Office, my responsibilities vary from day to day, which makes each day different
and interesting. One day I may support sales with product explanations and design service presentations, the next
I may coordinate orders and specifications with our customer service team. And, on another day, I may assist project
management with installation drawings and scheduling. There are many details to organize behind the scenes to
make each project as seamless as possible for the customer. The main goal is to provide the client with the best
design solution for their space while also keeping their budget and timeline in mind. We, at AO, work hard every
day to offer the most comprehensive and pleasant customer experience possible, which makes my job both fun
“As a Warehouse Supervisor, it is especially important to me that I enjoy the team I work with each day. At
American Office, nothing could be more accurate – I am surrounded by a great team to work with, an ever
changing environment and schedule where no two days are the same, and a place where I can enjoy daily
interactions with clients . I am passionate about coming to work and making a difference in service with
coworkers, but more importantly, with our customers.”
"Too often, we are forced to “adapt” to our surroundings. In any aspect of life, this can lead to compromises
and curtail what we are truly capable of. The workplace environment is certainly no different. A well designed
office space should reflect the mission of the organization and facilitate a culture that allows it to reach new
levels. As with its users, the workplace is a living, breathing thing that has to continue to evolve to be effective.
Helping to facilitate this environment is the challenge that I look forward to on a daily basis."
“Being a scheduler for American Office keeps you busy and on your toes. I schedule installs for our Richmond,
Charlottesville and VA Beach territories. It can be a challenge at times, but I enjoy working with our installers,
sales staff and, most importantly, our clients on a daily basis!”
“My day as a Shipping Supervisor at American Office begins before the sun rises. Ensuring I arrive to the office for
paperwork drop off and initiation of warehouse open by 5:30AM; I’d say I am most definitely an early riser! Each day
entails careful inspection of driver log books for scheduled van and truck routes, confirming routes align with the
predetermined installers & drivers, as well as employee time management & daily ticket closing. It’s an early, busy day,
but I thoroughly enjoy the people I work with and appreciate having the opportunity to learn more about what we do each
and every day.“
"The best thing about being a sales coordinator is working so closely with our customers and being able to know
via email or phone, how happy they are when a job comes together so perfectly. I work with the most amazing
group of people and the fact that we all work so well together, strive to remain on the same page and have one
goal in common the satisfactory of the customer; is what makes me love my days in the office. I love it when the
customer is completely satisfied knowing that our TEAM work was the reason for it all.”
“There are many factors that go into making American Office a successful company. By providing excellent
service to both my team in the office and to AO’s clients, I do my part to help AO be a company with which
people enjoy working. Whether it ensuring that all orders are entered properly into the system, following
up on shipments and installations, or simply answering each call with a smile and a willingness to listen,
I feel that every task is important and should be handled with care and respect.”
